The Human Body
Produced and originally screened in the high-definition IMAX process, this documentary examines the daily lives of an ordinary family of four as a variety of special photographic processes are used to record how the human body reacts to the challenges of a typical day, from the behavior of our skin cells all the way into the inner chambers of the heart. Heat-sensitive photography, magnetic resonance imaging, and endoscopic photographic equipment are among the techniques used to literally look inside the human body and better understand how the skeleton, circulatory system, nervous system, and major internal organs function. With the mother of the household expecting a baby, the film also examines how the human fetus develops over its nine-month gestation. Narrated by Dr. Robert Wilson, The Human Body was produced in part by American educational network The Learning Channel and the BBC, though the film enjoyed a theatrical run at IMAX-equipped theaters prior to its television premier. more..
