UFO
This speculative semi-documentary was also released as U.F.O., even though these initials were not in common usage back in 1956. So far as filmmaker Winston Jones is concerned, the Truth is out there, and he explores both sides of the "alien visitation" argument with a combination of library footage (some of it in color) and dramatized sequences. Much of the so-called Flying Saucer footage--which doesn't appear until 40 minutes into the proceedings--is too fuzzy to be totally convincing; the film is at its best when interviewing people who claim to have seen UFOs. Slow and plodding throughout most of its running time, the film comes to life in the last 10 minutes, with a reenactment of a "sighting" featuring the unbilled voice of actor Harry Morgan. Curiously, the now-famous Roswell Incident is given short shrift in U.F.O.
