Stealing Time
An attempt to carry the nostalgic torch of such efforts as St. Elmo's Fire and Return of the Secaucus Seven into the new millennium, albeit with an unexpectedly criminal twist, former assistant to Steven Spielberg Marc Fusco makes his directorial debut with this ensemble drama. Bored and disillusioned by their professional lives after living it up in college, a group of friends reunite a year after their graduation and attempt to recapture the spontaneity of their more carefree days by staging a bank robbery.
Director: Marc Fusco
Starring: Charlotte Ayanna, Ethan Embry, Peter Facinelli, Scott Foley, Jennifer Garner
The four actors are very good, and it's a shame they aren't working from a more focused and original concept. Written by Fusco and Michael Garrity, there's nothing awful about Stealing Time except that it mixes familiar ingredients with pretty bland results.
There is certainly talent on display here, but their work fails to come together into a coherent entertainment.
The more Marc Fusco and co-writer Michael Garrity's script aims for cleverness, the more it unravels.
