Spaceman

1997 Sci Fi

Scott Dikkers, one of the creators of the popular satiric "newspaper" The Onion, wrote and directed this offbeat sci-fi-themed comedy. A four-year-old boy who has gotten lost is kidnapped by aliens from another world, who raise him among their own and teach him to be a fierce interstellar warrior. Twenty-five years later, the boy expresses a desire to return to Earth in hopes of finding his mother, but the now-adult Spaceman (David Ghilardi) soon discovers that most of his fighting skills aren't especially useful on Earth, where he needs to pay rent and hold on to his job at a supermarket. As the Spaceman tries to stay one step ahead of a group of FBI agents and psychiatric caseworkers, he's also trying to foil the plans of a group of gangsters, and even finds himself falling for a pretty girl (Deborah King) who lives in the same apartment building. more..
