Hamlet

1976 Drama

This is one of the most surreal versions of the popular Shakespearian play on film. It approaches the story of the troubled prince from a Freudian perspective. Hamlet is seen a schizophrenic (played by identical twins). The Oedipal overtones of his relationship with his mother, Queen Gertrude, are stressed, and the film also contains broad hints of homosexuality.

Director: Celestino Coronado
