Girl King

2002 Action/Adventure

A lesbian epic on the high seas, Girl King is a gender-bent tale of swashbuckling pirates, hidden treasure, and the difference between tops and bottoms. The story opens as Butch, a baby butch of relative innocence, and his true love, Claudia, are imprisoned by the wrathful Queen, whose king has left her, and, adding insult to injury, has stolen her treasure. The Queen believes that Butch is just the man to win her treasure back, and dispatches the young top to search high and low for the treasure, the return of which will allow Butch to be reunited with Claudia. Claudia, however, isn't content to play prisoner, and escapes, disguised in leather drag, to follow Butch -- also in disguise as a male pirate -- on his quest for the treasure. Girl King was screened at the 2002 Philadelphia International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival.
