Act of Valor

2012

An elite team of US Navy SEALs race against the clock to stop a planned terrorist attack on U.S. soil in this film inspired by actual events, and featuring a cast of active-duty soldiers. With each successful mission, the Bandito Platoon uncovers another piece of the puzzle that leads them on a worldwide chase to prevent an act of terror that could alter the course of history. Later, at the U.S./Mexico border, the fight for the future of America comes to an explosive climax. Even when it seems as if evil may prevail, the courageous, determined SEALs never show signs of backing down, or giving up.

Reviews

  • Peculiarly entertaining exercise in bare-bones, Hollywood-style action heroism.

  • When the bullets are flying, Act of Valor is undeniably tense and thrilling.

  • Act of Valor is gift-wrapped in patriotism. It was once intended as a recruitment film, and that's how it plays.

Roger Ebert - The Chicago Sun-Times

  • Employing Navy troops as stars is a clever idea for an action thriller. But the soldiers' awkward line readings are glaring enough to distract from the potency of the story.

  • This intriguing hybrid is dramatically involving only when the shooting - with real bullets, naturally - gets underway.
